Drummer Olivier Le Goas has assembled a first-rate septet for this new album under his name.

Six musicians, all leaders of their own groups, put their sound and melodic inventiveness at the service of the leader’s compositions.

Five themes, ranging from about four minutes to over twelve, follow one another and give the five soloists the opportunity to express themselves abundantly on lively music with luminous harmonies and melodies full of vitality.

The ingenious arrangements highlight the group’s original sound, and the interweaving lines of David Patrois‘ vibraphone, Michael Felberbaum‘s guitar, and the three wind instruments give them their full flavor. Médéric Collignon, Frédéric Borey, and Gueorgui Kornazov are known to be major improvisers, and they are totally committed to the composer/leader’s aesthetic. Supported by Yoni Zelnik‘s lush double bass and Le Goas’s rich and skillfully polyrhythmic drumming, the inspired solos follow one another, each telling its own story.

This is a beautiful album from a drummer whose recordings as a leader regularly confirm his talents as a composer and gatherer of talents.
