Clélya Abraham’s music is profoundly solar.

A music that synthesizes various black musics from around the world: Antilles, Réunion, USA, Brazil and Africa all shine through under the fingers and in the voice of the pianist-singer. Magnificently surrounded by musicians with whom she is familiar, the leader and composer of almost the entire repertoire invites us on a highly exotic journey, where melody follows melody, with shimmering, swaying contours.

Clélya Abraham‘s piano plays an important role, both in its rhythmically and harmonically rich accompaniment and in its luminous solos.

The rhythm section provides particularly effective, melodic support, and the guitarist – who composed one of the tracks on the CD – adds a welcome touch of color in both chords and solo. Not surprisingly, the pianist calls on Lionel Loueke‘s guitar on one track, which soars to the rhythms and harmony provided by the band. This second recording confirms the talent of a musician whose future is sure to be full of surprises.

Line up:

Clélya Abraham: piano, vocals

Kévin Lazakis: guitar

Samuel F’Hima: double bass
