The Golden Gate Quartet « The American Legend » invite Sister Grace

Fondé par quatre étudiants aux États-Unis en 1934, le Golden Gate Quartet est devenu une véritable institution et l’une des formations de gospel et de negro spiritual les plus connues mondialement.

Le mythique groupe, qui a contribué à faire entrer ces musiques dans la légende, a toujours su allier goût de l’innovation et respect de l’héritage, clés de son immense succès. Il a fait le lien entre l’âge des spirituals et l’ère du gospel et a annoncé la révolution hip-hop grâce aux longs monologues, ancêtres du rap, qui caractérisent son répertoire depuis des décennies. Ainsi, le Quartet a démontré que la modernité de son art est le fruit d’un état d’esprit inaltérable. Les reprises de Billie Jean (Mickael Jackson) ou de Part Time Lover (Stevie Wonder) issus de son album anniversaire « 80 Years », sorti en 2015, en sont la preuve incontestable.

Paul Brembly, Franck Davis, Michaël Robinson et Terry Francis nous font l’honneur de venir au Festival et invitent exceptionnellement Sister Grace, soliste et membre du « Gospel music workshop of America » qui a réuni plus de 10 000 personnes dans le monde entier. Cette artiste soprano se distingue comme l’une des chanteuses les plus émouvantes et puissantes à la fois, deux qualités indispensables pour honorer le répertoire gospel, aux côtés de ses maîtres et hôtes pour l’occasion, accompagnés de leur pianiste Daniel Pines.

Founded by four students in 1934, The Golden Gate Quartet has become a real institution and one of the most famous gospel and Negro spiritual band, worldwide.

They contributed to make these music into legends and always combined their appetite towards innovation while respecting their legacy, which was the key to their huge success. The band was a link between the spiritual age and the gospel era, and announced the hip-hop revolution with long monologues (the ancestor or rap music) that have qualified this repertoire for decades. Their cover of “Billie Jean” (Michael Jackson) or the one of Part Time Lover (Stevie Wonder) in the album celebrating their anniversary “80 Years” published in 2015 are the incontestable proof of their modernity.

The festival is honored to welcome Paul Brembly, Franck Davis, Michaël Robinson and Terry Franics who invited the “Gospel music workshop of America” soloist Sister Grace especially for this occasion, as she reunites over 10.000 people worldwide. The Soprano stands out as one of the most moving and powerful singer, as essential qualities to honor gospel with her peers. They will be accompanied by their pianist Daniel Pines for the occasion.
