Jean Derome (alto & baritone saxophone and flute), Félix Stüssi (piano), Normand Guilbeault (double bass), and Pierre Tanguay (drums) invite you to a journey towards their luminous musical galaxies.
The Quebec quartet will present a repertoire of only original compositions that are rooted in the traditions of jazz and blues… The ones we particularly like. Because, the fundamentals are there !
And at the same time, the jazz proposed here is resolutely modern, its telescope pointed towards the future and the cosmos. The music distilled is rich, subtle, intense and catchy.
It is at the same time a tribute to the life on our blue planet, but the glance turned towards stars. We can detect the fragility of the Little Prince but also his freshness, his false naivety, his features, his choruses that go straight to the point.
There is also humor and love of melody. Authentic jazz that will undoubtedly return to the Sunset before the next millennium. So don’t miss this next visit announced on May 4, 2023 at 9:30 pm (according to scientists), from our cousins both Swiss and Quebecers.
This intense music is also catchy, soft and fragile, often funny, always fresh and authentic. In composing for SuperNova 4, Félix Stüssiand Jean Derome have been able to create pieces based on concise musical ideas, often juxtaposing tradition and modernity while playing with conventional forms.
With each performance, the musicians reinvent the pieces and the audience takes part in a musical adventure that is always new, captivating and surprising. The uninitiated are likely to become addicted because the music of SuperNova 4 hits your heart. So you will not leave this musical adventure unscathed!
Since April 2020, when it was released, SuperNova 4 is of course selected on Couleurs Jazz Radio!
