Enregistr\u00e9 avec des musiciens qui l\u2019accompagnent depuis un certain temps \u00e0 l\u2019image du saxophoniste <strong>Willie Morris<\/strong> ou encore du pianiste <strong>Art Hirahara<\/strong>, <strong>Lawrence<\/strong> s\u2019adjuge en plus la compagnie du tromboniste <strong>Altin Sencalar<\/strong> dont la renomm\u00e9e commence s\u00e9rieusement \u00e0 s\u2019\u00e9tablir au sein des pratiquants de la coulisse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Le sextet, au-del\u00e0 de la majest\u00e9 des interpr\u00e9tations, d\u00e9veloppe un parcours tout en nuances dans l\u2019orchestration d\u2019ensemble et du jeu sur les timbres et le spectre de la tessiture des vents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Les ann\u00e9es d\u2019\u00e9tude de <strong>Lawrence <\/strong>aupr\u00e8s du pianiste Barry Harris, ainsi que de sa participation au big band Captain Black d\u2019Orrin Evans se retrouvent dans l\u2019alchimie de ses compositions comme dans la rigueur de ses arrangements. Le placement rigoureux dans les chorus de cuivre confine \u00e0 la discipline des pupitres qui sied aux grandes formations. Le trio rythmique n\u2019est pas en reste, qui au-del\u00e0 d\u2019assurer le soutien et les relances, participe \u00e0 l\u2019harmonie de l\u2019ensemble par ses pulsations empreintes de m\u00e9lodisme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">L\u2019entente <strong>Hirahara\/Kozlov<\/strong> est \u00e0 ce titre un exemple de compl\u00e9mentarit\u00e9 qui ajoute \u00e0 la tonalit\u00e9 d\u2019ensemble une atmosph\u00e8re qui r\u00e9hausse le sextet comme une moyenne formation. Sans doute le v\u0153u du leader qui entend placer sa formation dans une forme oscillante entre quintet traditionnel et grand orchestre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Oscillation aussi entre ce qui pourrait \u00eatre un ing\u00e9nu discours et des compositions bien calibr\u00e9es et travaill\u00e9es.
