Et toujours de bonnes surprises sur cette derni\u00e8re parution avec en invit\u00e9 exceptionnel, le pianiste David Hazeltine.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Apr\u00e8s avoir crois\u00e9 le vent avec Joe Magnarelli, Steve Davis et Jim Rotondi, voici que le saxophoniste s\u2019adjoint un ma\u00eetre des touches jazz en la personne du r\u00e9nomm\u00e9 pianiste <strong>David Hazeltine<\/strong>, un autre habitu\u00e9 des formations en quintet, notamment avec le <em>One For All<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A la trompette, <strong>Fabien Mary<\/strong>, toujours \u00e9tincelant et dont les chorus racontent une histoire dans l\u2019histoire, avec une pointe du lyrisme d\u2019un Fran\u00e7ois Chassagnite et une attaque percussive \u00e0 la Kenny Dorham. Un <strong>David Sauzay<\/strong> tr\u00e8s en verve et en verbe sur le registre m\u00e9dium du t\u00e9nor, une autre histoire d\u2019habitude dont on ne se lasse pas. Le morceau \u00ab\u00a0<em>Pearls\u00a0\u00bb<\/em> est \u00e0 cet \u00e9gard un mod\u00e8le du genre avec <strong>David Hazeltine<\/strong> dans un contretemps qui ne perd pas le sien.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Sur des compositions des trois premiers nomm\u00e9s \u00e0 laquelle s\u2019ajoute une compo de Paul Chambers, le quartet sonne tr\u00e8s cuivr\u00e9 avec un allant qui ne se d\u00e9ment pas au fil des plages. Id\u00e9e int\u00e9ressante d\u2019interchanger des bassistes avec la pr\u00e9sence notable de <strong>Paolo Benedettini<\/strong>, compagnon de route d\u2019<strong>Hazeltine<\/strong>. A noter \u00e9galement la superbe prestation du batteur <strong>Xaver Hellmeier<\/strong> avec un jeu de baguettes extr\u00eamement fin et pr\u00e9cis notamment aux cymbales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Des interpr\u00e9tations soud\u00e9es au comma pr\u00e8s, sans n\u00e9gliger pour autant les audaces m\u00e9lodiques, signe d\u2019un quintet parfaitement abouti. Les lignes d\u2019\u00e9change entre les souffleurs et le pianiste sans aucune cassure de rythme et les chorus des souffleurs en chants et contrechants distingu\u00e9s offrent un panel \u00e0 la fois technique et raffin\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Mais l\u2019\u00e9coute ne doit pas se satisfaire que d\u2019une lecture exclusivement technique car la dominante instrumentale est belle et bien dans une exposition lyrique ouat\u00e9e (<em>The Spirit of Alice<\/em>) et dans une chanson qui sait dire des choses \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la musique\u00a0!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Vous aimez Bobby Timmons, Kenny Dorham et Stan Getz\u00a0? Alors, Don\u2019t hesitate, jetez-vous sur l\u2019\u00e9coute du dernier <strong>David Sauzay<\/strong>.
