originaires d\u2019Asie et install\u00e9s \u00e0 New York, et encore moins si ce sont des femmes.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">La sud-cor\u00e9enne <strong>Hyeseon Hong<\/strong> fait donc plus ou moins figure d\u2019exception d\u2019autant plus que sur ce second enregistrement sous son nom elle m\u00eale des compositions typiquement am\u00e9ricaines \u00e0 d\u2019autres qui sonnent nettement orientales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A la t\u00eate d\u2019un orchestre compos\u00e9 de cadors de la sc\u00e8ne de la Big Apple \u2014 parmi lesquels le plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre est sans doute le sax t\u00e9nor v\u00e9t\u00e9ran <strong>Rich Perry<\/strong>, qu\u2019on a pu jadis entendre au sein de la phalange codirig\u00e9e par Thad Jones et Mel Lewis \u2014 la cheffe d\u2019orchestre et compositrice fait preuve d\u2019une belle inventivit\u00e9 en ce qui concerne les m\u00e9langes de timbres, les contrastes de dynamiques, les <em>voicings<\/em> et les conduites de voix toujours pertinents\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Le r\u00e9pertoire est savamment vari\u00e9 avec un morceau entrainant chant\u00e9 par une vocaliste tr\u00e8s convaincante et un autre dont la m\u00e9lodie est siffl\u00e9e, au milieu d\u2019autres compositions soit plus lyriques, soit plus pugnaces.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Servie par des solistes de premi\u00e8re bourre qui participent pleinement \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9laboration d\u2019une p\u00e2te sonore \u00e0 la fois sophistiqu\u00e9e et aux contours souplement harmonieux, la leadeuse n\u2019a pas de mal \u00e0 faire entendre sa diff\u00e9rence\u00a0: une voix originale qui a su creuser son sillon dans le lignage des big bands modernes d\u2019outre-Atlantique tout en laissant transpara\u00eetre des racines cor\u00e9ennes assum\u00e9es.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Notons aussi que, contrairement \u00e0 certaines grandes formations qui n\u2019h\u00e9sitent pas \u00e0 faire usage de leur \u00ab\u00a0force de frappe\u00a0\u00bb, <strong>Hyeseon Hong<\/strong> r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 donner \u00e0 son orchestre une douceur, un moelleux et une vibration sensibles qui poss\u00e8dent un charme ent\u00eatant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">On y verra sans doute le fruit d\u2019un rapport f\u00e9minin \u00e0 la musique ou d\u2019une forme de discr\u00e9tion et de retenue typiquement asiatiques.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Toujours est-il que ce\u00a0<strong><em>Things Will Pass<\/em><\/strong> laisse de belles traces de son passage et qu\u2019on \u00e9coute et r\u00e9\u00e9coute avec un plaisir renouvel\u00e9 les belles compositions d\u2019une musicienne dont on n\u2019a sans doute pas fini de parler.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><a
