Une gourmandise qui confine \u00e0 une roborative boulimie\u00a0: plus d\u2019une heure et quart de musique qu\u2019on d\u00e9guste sans se lasser tant les saveurs sonores que d\u00e9ploie l\u2019orchestre sont vari\u00e9es, riches et capiteuses. Car si <strong>Longnon<\/strong> est ici \u2014 outre le leader \u2014 l\u2019arrangeur de tout le r\u00e9pertoire, il en est \u00e9galement le principal compositeur.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Et les th\u00e8mes qu\u2019il ne signe pas sont d\u2019une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 bienvenue, allant de Gershwin \u00e0 Boris Vian, de Sammy Nestico \u00e0 Billy Strayhorn, de Gilbert B\u00e9caud \u00e0 Miles Davis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">L\u2019orchestre est clairement l\u2019instrument que <strong>Longnon<\/strong> \u2014 par ailleurs trompettiste \u00e9m\u00e9rite \u2014 met en valeur et il le fait sonner de fa\u00e7on \u00e0 la fois subtile et joyeuse, dans une veine qui va du classicisme des ann\u00e9es quarante au raffinement de l\u2019orchestre de Thad Jones\/Mel Lewis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Pas de recherche moderniste ici mais un parti pris assum\u00e9 d\u2019inscription dans une tradition que <strong>Longnon<\/strong>prolonge avec une ferveur et un savoir-faire qui laisse pantois et ne peut que recueillir l\u2019adh\u00e9sion de tout amateur de jazz amoureux du swing et du son.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Car les arrangements de <strong>Longnon<\/strong> d\u00e9ploient une palette sonore chatoyante et foisonnante o\u00f9 les timbres des instruments sont magnifiquement mis en valeurs sur une pulsation rythmique jubilatoire et o\u00f9 les solos instrumentaux jaillissent comme autant de fontaines de jouvence m\u00e9lodieuses et inventives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Ce go\u00fbt du chant se manifeste particuli\u00e8rement dans les th\u00e8mes o\u00f9 la voix intervient mais en fait il irrigue l\u2019ensemble de l\u2019opus tant chaque soliste ma\u00eetrise l\u2019art de raconter une histoire, soutenu par une masse sonore orchestrale d\u2019une densit\u00e9 cantabile remarquable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">On sort donc de l\u2019\u00e9coute de ce CD avec un sourire de contentement et une profonde sensation de bien-\u00eatre.
