Dmitry Baevsky se devait pour son nouvel opus, le onzi\u00e8me en tant que leader, de pratiquer un jazz de tr\u00e8s haut vol.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Quoi de mieux pour le saxophoniste-alto originaire de Saint-Petersbourg en Russie, pour enregistrer <strong><em>Roller Coaster<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 une petite perle phonographique dans laquelle d\u2019imp\u00e9rissables standards croisent des compositions personnelles \u2013 que de r\u00e9unir la fine fleur du jazz \u00ab\u00a0made in New York City\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">En t\u00eate de gondole, un excellent guitariste de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence (trop sous-estim\u00e9 en France\u00a0!), <strong>Peter Bernstein<\/strong>, dont les cordes magiques et la musicalit\u00e9 instrumentale ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 jalonn\u00e9 les chemins de plusieurs g\u00e9n\u00e9rations de jazzmen, de Sonny Rollins \u00e0 Brad Mehldau en passant par Diana Krall et, plus r\u00e9cemment, celui d\u2019une \u00e9toile montante du piano, Sullivan Fortner, r\u00e9cemment nomin\u00e9 dans la cat\u00e9gorie \u00ab\u00a0Grand prix de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie du jazz 2024 (meilleur disque de l\u2019ann\u00e9e)\u00a0\u00bb en France.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Et pour parfaire le quartette, deux sidemen tr\u00e8s prometteurs \u00e0 l\u2019image du contrebassiste <strong>David Wong<\/strong> et du batteur <strong>Jason Brown<\/strong> qui poss\u00e8dent des cartes de visite aux noms prestigieux.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Quant \u00e0 <strong>Dmitry Baevsky<\/strong>, son immense culture musicale a fait de lui un saxophoniste-alto et compositeur qui a tout assimil\u00e9 de ses plus grands alter ego, de Charlie Parker aux h\u00e9rauts contemporains comme \u00ab\u00a0Cannonball\u00a0\u00bb Adderley, Art Pepper, Jackie McLean voire Marion Brown pour concevoir son propre univers instrumental.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Et pour ce 4tet de luxe, il fallait un r\u00e9pertoire ad hoc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Ont ainsi \u00e9t\u00e9 convoqu\u00e9s notamment Benny Golson (r\u00e9cemment disparu \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de 95 ans), Duke Ellington, Ray Charles, Tommy Flanagan ou encore Grant Green pour former l\u2019ossature du concept en plus de compositions personnelles.
