Un quintet bop finlandais qui ne court pas encore les bois, raison de plus d\u2019aller s\u2019y promener.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Sobrement intitul\u00e9 <strong>Aleksi Heinola Quintet<\/strong>, cet enregistrement r\u00e9alis\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019auditorium d\u2019Helsinki, nous pr\u00e9sente sous la conduite du batteur qui donne son nom \u00e0 l\u2019ensemble, un quintet de pur hard-bop dont les origines plus que nordistes pourraient faire s\u2019interroger.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">On aurait \u00e0 la fois tort et raison, car derri\u00e8re ses peaux, le batteur nous emm\u00e8ne pour une vir\u00e9e jazzystique de haute vol\u00e9e qui pourrait sans ambages supporter la comparaison avec des formations US de m\u00eame calibre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Dans la continuit\u00e9 d\u2019un style genre Art Blakey ou Horace Silver, ces cinq-l\u00e0 balancent un jazz bop avec une rythmique impeccable servie et fleurie entre autre par un pianiste omnipr\u00e9sent dont le jeu accompagnement\/relance sert l\u2019ensemble \u00e0 merveille, et notamment le saxophoniste, tr\u00e8s brillant lui aussi dans ses interventions (<em>Rudy<\/em>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Deux souffleurs tr\u00e8s en verve soutenus par une section rythmique de grande valeur,\u00a0 le tout sur des th\u00e8mes enlev\u00e9s qui permettent des expositions brillantes et une dext\u00e9rit\u00e9 d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation. Notez le chorus de trompette sur <em>Silver Maze. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Toute l\u2019\u00e9tendue des tessitures instrumentales est explor\u00e9e, et le tout sans r\u00e9p\u00e9tition inutile ou colifichets surabondants.\u00a0 Un phras\u00e9 et un placement d\u2019ensemble dignes d\u2019un tr\u00e8s bon quintet du style.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">La compl\u00e9mentarit\u00e9 est assur\u00e9e sur les chorus d\u2019ensemble de <em>Chasing The Spirit.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Sept compositions sur neuf sont sign\u00e9es par le batteur qui fait montre ici d\u2019un talent certain d\u2019\u00e9criture en plus de son r\u00f4le assum\u00e9 de metteur en sc\u00e8ne.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Compositions certes de facture classique dans le genre mais dont l\u2019enrichissement par les interpr\u00e9tations revivalise un hard-bop d\u2019excellente tenue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Le dernier morceau, <em>Drift,<\/em> en est un mod\u00e8le parfait.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Un bel \u00e9lan au pays des \u00e9lans\u00a0!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Le jazz finlandais pointe son museau glac\u00e9, il faut s\u2019y int\u00e9resser de plus pr\u00e8s, ces jazzmen venus du froid ont des choses \u00e0 nous dire.
