{"id":41205,"date":"2024-07-06T19:28:30","date_gmt":"2024-07-06T18:28:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/couleursjazz.fr\/?p=41205"},"modified":"2024-07-06T19:38:08","modified_gmt":"2024-07-06T18:38:08","slug":"antonio-farao-tributes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/couleursjazz.fr\/fr\/antonio-farao-tributes\/","title":{"rendered":"Antonio Farao &#8211; Tributes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">De tous les pianistes italiens en activit\u00e9 (et ils sont nombreux\u00a0: de Danilo Rea \u00e0 Enrico Pieranunzi, de Stefano Bollani \u00e0 Dado Moroni, de Franco D\u2019Andrea \u00e0 Giovanni Guidi, d\u2019Antonello Salis \u00e0 Nico Morelli ou de Giovanni Mirabassi \u00e0 Stefano Battaglia\u2026) Antonio Farao est sans doute celui qui se positionne le plus dans la tradition du piano jazz am\u00e9ricain moderne, de McCoy Tyner \u00e0 Chick Corea (dont il reprend ici \u00ab\u00a0Matrix\u00a0\u00bb). <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">C\u2019est dire qu\u2019avec lui l\u2019exub\u00e9rance swingante et la virtuosit\u00e9 pyrotechnique sont une seconde nature. Dot\u00e9 d\u2019un bagage technique impressionnant dont il fait un usage sinon mod\u00e9r\u00e9 du moins pertinent, ce pianiste est souvent plus brillant que profond mais cette propension \u00e0 aller vers l\u2019extr\u00eame sonne toujours avec une d\u00e9sarmante sinc\u00e9rit\u00e9. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Farao<\/strong> est ainsi fait et la g\u00e9n\u00e9rosit\u00e9 harmonique et m\u00e9lodique qui le caract\u00e9rise n\u2019a jamais rien de gratuit. Il n\u2019est donc pas \u00e9tonnant que pour ce premier enregistrement pour le label Criss Cross il ait choisi des accompagnateurs du calibre de <strong>John Patitucci<\/strong> et <strong>Jeff Ballard<\/strong> qui nous renvoient \u00e0 Chick Corea, Brad Mehldau et Wayne Shorter (\u00e0 qui <strong>Farao<\/strong>d\u00e9die une de ses compositions). <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">En si bonne compagnie, le pianiste a tout loisir de proposer un discours chaleureux o\u00f9 dominent les th\u00e8mes up tempo \u2014 majoritairement de sa plume \u2014 que viennent ponctuer quelques morceaux plus lyriques et apais\u00e9s (dont l\u2019un est jou\u00e9 en solo et un autre est d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 Michel Petrucciani et \u00e0 Didier Lockwood) o\u00f9 son toucher se fait plus tendre et son phras\u00e9 plus m\u00e9ditatif. <strong>Patitucci<\/strong> et <strong>Ballard<\/strong> sont \u00e9videmment \u2014 et comme d\u2019habitude \u2014 irr\u00e9prochables dans leur accompagnement et donnent \u00e0 la musique une densit\u00e9 remarquable. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">On se laisse donc volontiers emporter par ce torrent musical dont le d\u00e9bit foisonnant est d\u2019une grande richesse.
