L\u2019arriv\u00e9e d\u2019un \u00ab\u00a0petit nouveau\u00a0\u00bb met donc toujours nos oreilles en \u00e9veil. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Et sur ce premier disque sous son nom on peut dire qu\u2019<strong>Hugo Diaz <\/strong>surprend agr\u00e9ablement, d\u2019autant que son r\u00e9pertoire se compose \u2014 \u00e0 un th\u00e8me pr\u00e8s sign\u00e9 par son pianiste et une chanson de Gabriel Kahane \u00a0\u2014 de morceaux de sa plume. <strong>Diaz<\/strong> s\u2019affirme donc d\u2019embl\u00e9e comme une forte personnalit\u00e9 par son choix d\u2019instrument comme par l\u2019esth\u00e9tique qu\u2019il affiche.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">De formation classique, le saxophoniste poss\u00e8de une belle sonorit\u00e9 \u2014 parfois fragile et plus affirm\u00e9e \u00e0 d\u2019autres moments \u2014 et un phras\u00e9 d\u2019une grande \u00e9l\u00e9gance et d\u2019une fluidit\u00e9 remarquable au service d\u2019un lyrisme qui s\u2019affiche sans retenue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">On d\u00e9c\u00e8le chez lui un grand souci de la m\u00e9lodie qui fait que la plupart des th\u00e8mes racontent une histoire alors que d\u2019autres sont marqu\u00e9s par une approche plus abstraite o\u00f9 l\u2019improvisation est davantage mise en avant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Accompagn\u00e9 par des partenaires qu\u2019on sent familiers avec lui, le saxophoniste nous prom\u00e8ne donc dans un paysage sonore aux contours vari\u00e9s o\u00f9 alternent les plages sur lesquelles s\u2019exprime une douce tendresse et les th\u00e8mes \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9nergie plus pugnace ou joyeuse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Dans tous ces contextes on a affaire \u00e0 un groupe soud\u00e9 qui \u0153uvre de conserve \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9laboration d\u2019une vision du jazz \u00e0 la fois contemporaine et fid\u00e8le \u00e0 la tradition et dont chaque membre poss\u00e8de une identit\u00e9 marqu\u00e9e qui contribue amplement \u00e0 une sonorit\u00e9 de groupe tout \u00e0 fait originale.
