On y retrouve son piano d\u2019une virtuosit\u00e9 sans ostentation, son assise rythmique in\u00e9branlable \u00e0 la main gauche et son toucher cristallin \u00e0 la droite. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Entour\u00e9 du bassiste britannique<strong> Conor Chaplin <\/strong>et du batteur scandinave <strong>Anton Eger<\/strong>,<strong> Rantala<\/strong> nous propose dix compositions personnelles au charme accrocheur. Un onzi\u00e8me th\u00e8me, sign\u00e9 Jaco Pastorius et sur lequel le trio invite l\u2019harmoniciste danois <strong>Mathias Heise<\/strong>, vient clore le r\u00e9pertoire. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">La musique est constamment chantante et distille une joie de jouer qui ferait presque croire que ces musiciens sont n\u00e9s sous des cieux plus cl\u00e9ments que ceux des bords de la Baltique et de la Mer du Nord. C\u2019est que <strong>Rantala<\/strong> est un amoureux des m\u00e9lodies aux harmonies capiteuses (\u00ab\u00a0<em>Stockholm Syndrome<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0<em>A Lotta Love\u00a0<\/em>\u00bb\u2026) et des rythmes enjou\u00e9s ( \u00ab\u00a0<em>Tough Stuff\u00a0<\/em>\u00bb, \u00ab<em>\u00a0Country and Eastern<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb\u2026) o\u00f9 son go\u00fbt des tempos enlev\u00e9s sur lesquels son phras\u00e9 alerte fait merveille peut s\u2019exprimer sans retenue. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">S\u2019inscrivant dans l\u2019esth\u00e9tique intemporelle d\u2019un jazz qui exprime le plaisir du jeu en interaction plut\u00f4t que la recherche intellectuelle ou le souci de la modernit\u00e9 \u00e0 tout prix, ce nouvel opus du pianiste finlandais vient s\u2019ajouter \u00e0 une discographie abondante qu\u2019on \u00e9coute le sourire aux l\u00e8vres. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Il faut dire qu\u2019il est entour\u00e9 de musiciens partageant son souci de plaire sans aller jusqu\u2019\u00e0 enfiler les clich\u00e9s racoleurs. La contrebasse est constamment tonique dans son soutien et m\u00e9lodique dans ses solos et la batterie ponctue le tout d\u2019une polyrythmie radieuse.
