Soucieux d\u2019assumer l\u2019h\u00e9ritage de J.J. Johnson et de Kai Winding, <strong>Sencalar <\/strong>a d\u00e9j\u00e0 souffl\u00e9 aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de Rodney Whitaker, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Christian Mc Bride, Ulysses Owens Jr entre autres, et fait partie de Dizzy Gillespie All Stars Big Band, cette derni\u00e8re collaboration \u00e9tant le must en terme de carte de visite pour un souffleur.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Entre une version de <em>Maiden Voyage<\/em> de Herbie Hancock en intro et une lecture de <em>You\u2019re My Everything <\/em>d\u2019Harry Warren en final, l\u2019enregistrement comporte des compositions personnelles du leader, sur lesquelles on peut aussi appr\u00e9cier les qualit\u00e9s d\u2019arrangeur et qui donne un jazz rac\u00e9 et de haute voltige dans les interventions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">La voix pos\u00e9e et surplombante du trombone (<em>The Sunday After<\/em>), m\u00e9lange de groove et de sentiment donne une \u00e2me \u00e0 ce disque o\u00f9 s\u2019invitent par ailleurs des individualit\u00e9s qui confortent le discours par des ponctuations audacieuses (<em>Pacing<\/em>) comme des envol\u00e9es solitaires \u00e0 l\u2019image du baryton de <strong>Michael Dease<\/strong> sur <em>It\u2019s Easy.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">La section rythmique augment\u00e9e d\u2019un percussionniste n\u2019est pas en reste, emmen\u00e9e par le pianiste <strong>Art Hirahara<\/strong>, aux collaborations \u00e9galement nombreuses, dont la renomm\u00e9e n\u2019est plus \u00e0 faire dans ce domaine musical, et qui ajoute sur cet enregistrement sa patte tr\u00e8s m\u00e9lodique.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A cheval entre le combo et la grosse machine qu\u2019est un big-band, le nonet de <strong>Sencalar <\/strong>donne ici la pleine mesure d\u2019une spontan\u00e9it\u00e9 communicative sans n\u00e9gliger les chuintements plaintifs dans les tempi plus assagis, \u00e0 l\u2019instar d\u2019un <em>You\u2019re My Everything<\/em> jou\u00e9 sur un mode ballade bluesy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Altin Sencalar<\/strong> et son \u00ab\u00a0<em>Discover the Present<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb m\u00e9ritent le titre de master-class du bop contemporain. Des musiciens d\u00e9j\u00e0 entendus et qu\u2019il faudra continuer de suivre avec l\u2019assurance du bien-faire.
