{"id":39784,"date":"2024-01-10T00:16:15","date_gmt":"2024-01-09T23:16:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/couleursjazz.fr\/?p=39784"},"modified":"2024-01-10T00:49:29","modified_gmt":"2024-01-09T23:49:29","slug":"laurent-cugny-tentet-zeitgeist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/couleursjazz.fr\/fr\/laurent-cugny-tentet-zeitgeist\/","title":{"rendered":"Laurent Cugny Tentet &#8211; Zeitgeist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">C\u2019est un tentet hautement original que nous propose Laurent Cugny pour son retour dans les bacs des disquaires apr\u00e8s plusieurs ann\u00e9es de silence phonographique. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Original tout d\u2019abord par son instrumentation\u00a0: pas moins de trois claviers \u00e9lectriques, deux batteries et deux anches allant de l\u2019aigu (sax soprano) au grave (clarinette basse). Une guitare, une trompette et une contrebasse viennent compl\u00e9ter cet instrumentarium dont on sent que le but est de forger un son \u00e9pais et charnu. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">C\u2019est effectivement ce son qui frappe d\u2019embl\u00e9e et qui s\u00e9duit imm\u00e9diatement par sa saveur \u00e0 la fois dense et ductile. Originale ensuite par son r\u00e9pertoire qui va de compositions du leader \u00e0 un th\u00e8me de Joni Mitchell, un autre de Joe Zawinul et des Beatles, un morceau de Duke Ellington et m\u00eame une chanson de Michel Jonaz. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Un \u00e9clectisme bienvenu qui couvre un large espace temporel par rapport auquel les arrangements de<strong> Cugny<\/strong> constituent le liant stylistique dans la mesure o\u00f9 son \u00e9criture est \u00e0 la fois r\u00e9solument moderne et p\u00e9trie d\u2019une tradition qui remonte aux premiers opus \u00e9lectriques du Miles Davis des ann\u00e9es 70. \u00ab\u00a0<strong><em>Zeitgeist<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb (esprit du temps en allemand) semble donc un titre parfaitement appropri\u00e9 car <strong>Cugny<\/strong> actualise cette esth\u00e9tique qu\u2019il conna\u00eet bien pour avoir entre autres collabor\u00e9 avec Gil Evans. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Sur ce substrat orchestral o\u00f9 les voix des trois claviers tissent une trame m\u00e9lodique et harmonique somptueuse tandis que les batteries assurent un soutien rythmique subtil et foisonnant viennent se greffer les solos des souffleurs, de la guitare ou d\u2019un des claviers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Des solos aux couleurs chatoyantes qui se fondent dans l\u2019esth\u00e9tique globale tout en affirmant la voix individuelle de chaque instrumentiste. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Au total on a l\u00e0 une \u0153uvre fortement singuli\u00e8re et qui devrait faire date tant elle donne un coup de jeune \u00e0 un genre orchestral assez peu repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 ces derni\u00e8res d\u00e9cennies.
