Un morceau qui vous plonge d\u2019embl\u00e9e dans l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re d\u2019une autre dimension.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Les solos des diff\u00e9rents membres d\u2019<strong>Ekaya<\/strong> sont tous plus \u00e9mouvants les uns que les autres. Le tempo lent maintenu par le groupe tout au long du morceau donne une ambiance tr\u00e8s particuli\u00e8re qui apporte s\u00e9r\u00e9nit\u00e9 et joie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Le solo de piano d\u2019<strong>Abdullah Ibrahim<\/strong> (anciennement <strong>Dollar Brand<\/strong>) est tout \u00e0 fait divin \u00e9galement. Le pianiste sud-africain est un livre qu\u2019il fait bon ouvrir r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement : on y lit une histoire de souffrances de l\u2019Afrique du Sud, de combats \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de Mandela.\u00a0 C\u2019est une musique r\u00e9demptrice. <em>Ekaya <\/em>est une formation lyrique et incantatoire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Abdullah Ibrahim<\/strong> a beaucoup enregistr\u00e9 en solo, ainsi que des projets de grande envergure avec de grands ensembles, mais son ensemble <strong>Ekaya<\/strong>, un septet compos\u00e9 de trois anches, d&rsquo;un trombone et de la section rythmique piano\/basse\/batterie, est le v\u00e9hicule id\u00e9al il me semble pour r\u00e9v\u00e9ler tout l\u2019art de ce grand musicien qui rappelle parfois Thelonious Monk, l&rsquo;une de ses premi\u00e8res influences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u00ab\u00a0<em>Calypso Minor<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0, est un de mes titres pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9s du jazz moderne, car il se d\u00e9roule en mode furtif, avec une base rythmique qui donne le champ libre aux expressions color\u00e9es de <strong>Keith Loftis<\/strong> au sax t\u00e9nor et d\u2019<strong>Andrae Murchinson <\/strong>au trombone, suivie par le grondement sourd mais vif du saxophone baryton de <strong>Jason Marshall<\/strong>qui c\u00e8de la place aux trilles d&rsquo;oiseau de la fl\u00fbte de <strong>Cleave Guyton<\/strong>.
