To improvise in duet requires a very great confidence and trust to your partner. Musically speaking, this last album\u00a0entitled \u201c<strong><em>io<\/em><\/strong>\u201d is a dense and vaporous object at the same time. Far from the conventional structures, the duet invites us to discover new dimensions.<\/p>\n<p>The music that we find on \u201c<em><strong>io<\/strong><\/em>\u201d was recorded in two different places. They are important cultural places where it&rsquo;s possible to hear particular projects, far from the politically correct scene. Located in the district Mile End, the <em>Resonance Caf\u00e9<\/em> is a place that is followed by the jazz music lovers. For fifteen years, the undergroud scene (all kind of musical category) has been very well covered in <em>Casa Del Popolo<\/em> (St. Lawrence Boulevard). Carrier could not choose better places to share his music in front of a receptive and open mind crowd.<\/p>\n<p>In a similar register, the saxophonist <strong>Charles Lloyd<\/strong> and drummer <strong>Billy Higgins<\/strong> treated to an adventure of the same kind with the album \u201cWhich Way Is East?\u201d appeared in 2004on ECM. In the case of Lloyd and of Higgins, spirituality was the basic screen of this historical meeting. On Carrier and Lambert side, the leitmotiv is quite simply freedom without any constraint.<\/p>\n<p>This music is addressed to experienced music lovers. Here, it is not question of formatted music. There is no reference marks, not repetitive times. A short melody line can appear and disappear suddenly. All the album contains spontaneous improvisations. This music requires to be open-minded&#8230;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em>Improviser toute une soir\u00e9e comme le font souvent le saxophoniste <strong>Fran\u00e7ois Carrier<\/strong> et le batteur <strong>Michel Lambert,<\/strong>\u00a0c&rsquo;est un peu comme se jeter en bas d&rsquo;un pr\u00e9cipice. Improviser en duo exige une tr\u00e8s grande confiance et beaucoup de cran. Compositeur prolifique, Fran\u00e7ois Carrier \u00a0a une soif de vivre tr\u00e8s intense. Musicalement parlant, son plus r\u00e9cent opus intitul\u00e9 \u00ab<\/em><strong>io<\/strong><em>\u00bb est un objet dense et vaporeux \u00e0 la fois. Insaisissable, le saxophoniste\u00a0ne fait jamais du surplace. Loin des structures conventionnelles, le duo nous invite \u00e0 prendre des risques payants.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/couleursjazz.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/fc_io.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2031  aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/couleursjazz.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/fc_io.png\" alt=\"fc_io\" width=\"355\" height=\"355\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>La musique que nous retrouvons sur \u00abio\u00bb a \u00e9t\u00e9 enregistr\u00e9 dans deux endroits diff\u00e9rents. Il s&rsquo;agit de lieux culturels importants o\u00f9 il est possible d&rsquo;entendre des projets audacieux, loin des sentiers battus. Situ\u00e9 dans le quartier Mile End, le Caf\u00e9 R\u00e9sonance est un endroit de plus en plus couru par les m\u00e9lomanes jazz. Depuis quinze ans, la sc\u00e8ne underground (toute cat\u00e9gorie musicale confondue) est tr\u00e8s bien couverte \u00e0 la Casa Del Popolo (boul. Saint-Laurent). Carrier ne pouvait choisir de meilleurs lieux pour partager sa musique devant un public r\u00e9ceptif et ouvert d&rsquo;esprit.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Dans une registre similaire, le saxophoniste <strong>Charles Lloyd<\/strong> et le batteur <\/em><strong>Billy Higgins<\/strong><em> s&rsquo;\u00e9taient offert\u00a0une aventure du m\u00eame genre avec l&rsquo;album \u00ab<\/em>Which Way Is East<em>?\u00bb paru en 2004 chez ECM. Dans le cas de Lloyd et de Higgins, la spiritualit\u00e9 \u00e9tait la trame de fond de cette rencontre historique. Du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de <strong>Carrier<\/strong> et de <strong>Lambert<\/strong>, le leitmotiv est tout simplement la libert\u00e9 sans aucune contrainte. Cette musique s\u2019adresse \u00e0 des m\u00e9lomanes exp\u00e9riment\u00e9s. Il n\u2019est pas question ici de musique format\u00e9e. Il n\u2019y a pas de rep\u00e8res, pas de temps r\u00e9p\u00e9titifs. Une courte ligne m\u00e9lodique peut appara\u00eetre et dispara\u00eetre soudainement. Tout l\u2019album contient des improvisations spontan\u00e9es. Cette musique n\u00e9cessite une ouverture d\u2019esprit de la part de l\u2019auditeur.
