Le pianiste new-yorkais d\u2019origine indienne se dit inspir\u00e9 autant par ses ma\u00eetres Ahmad Jamal ou Duke Ellington que par les rythmiques de James Brown, Miles Davis, de la coh\u00e9rence organique du Band of Gypsys de Jimi Hendrix, de la musique \u00e9lectronique et du hip hop. Un \u00e9clectisme que l\u2019on retrouve dans les neuf compositions originales du pianiste ou dans les reprises \u00ab\u00a0Work\u00a0\u00bb (Thelonious Monk, son h\u00e9ros), \u00ab\u00a0Blood Count\u00a0\u00bb (Billy Strayhorn) et \u00ab\u00a0Countdown\u00a0\u00bb (John Coltrane).<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s de brillantes \u00e9tudes scientifiques, Vijay Iyer multiplie les r\u00e9compenses et s\u2019impose sur l\u2019enti\u00e8re plan\u00e8te jazz comme un g\u00e9nie du piano, capable de se d\u00e9gager de toutes les esth\u00e9tiques connues du piano jazz, pour inventer un langage unique.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNotre trio a toujours travaill\u00e9 sur le principe de r\u00e9orientation : on aime beaucoup s\u2019emparer de quelque chose qui n\u2019a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7u pour notre format orchestral\u2026 et le fa\u00e7onner \u00e0 notre mesure. \u00c7a a pour effet de toujours nous faire aller dans des directions neuves pour nous. Ce sentiment de d\u00e9couverte est un vrai apport d\u2019\u00e9nergie.\u201d <i>Vijay Iyer<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Une soir\u00e9e \u00e9tincelante en compagnie de l\u2019un des trios les plus pris\u00e9s et fusionnels de la sc\u00e8ne mondiale actuelle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p><em><b>The new great jazz trio<br \/>\n<\/b><\/em><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><em>For his new album \u00ab\u00a0Break Stuff\u00a0\u00bb released at ECM, the pianist and composer Vijay Iyer honors the trio he has been in, with the double-bassist Stephan Cump and the drummer Marcus Gilmore. The New-Yorker with Indian origins tells that he is as inspired by his masters Ahmad Jamal or Duke Ellington, as he is by James Brown, Miles Davis, the organic coherence of Band of Gypsys of Jimi Hendrix, but also by electronic music and hip hop. It is this kind of eclectism that you can find in his nine original compositions or in his covers such as \u201cWork\u201d (Thelonious Monk, his hero), \u201cBlood Count\u201d (Billy Strayhorn) and \u201cCountdown\u201d (John Coltrane).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>After brilliant scientific studies (he was awarded by the McArthur Foundation Fellowship for his work), Vijay Iyer receive multiple awards and imposes himself on the entire jazz world as a piano genius, who is able to break free from all the known piano codes, and create a unique language.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u201cOur trio has always been working on a reorientation basis: we love to take something that has not been conceived for our orchestral format\u2026 and make it completely ours. As a matter of fact, it makes us go towards new directions.
